Friendships often determine direction.

paretns Text: 2 Timothy 3:1 “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.” Right now, dangerous and risky things are coming to our young people disguised as friendships.  Friendships determine the majority of the direction in their life and the things that influence them the most.  True friends will love them, not just accept them.   The teen years bring tremendous changes and a range of emotions to go with them.  Acceptance is huge in their lives and those that accept them will get first chance to influence them. God gives great instruction in II Timothy 3:1-9 – Turn away from ungodly men bearing perilous times for your life.  Perilous times are coming to you in the form of friends and acquaintances (II Tim 3:1-2).  Our teens need friends that love God and love them, not friends that just love themselves (II Tim 3:4-6).  Ask your teen what traits they like best in their friends and see how those friends measure up against II Timothy 3:1-9.  Friendships pave the way to influence so make sure that your teen knows you love them unconditionally that there is no better kind of friend to have.
