August Update from the Whites

Off and Running:
Our first month back here in Bolivia has been both a busy and exciting one. Only a few weeks after arriving, even before we found a house, we had ten visitors from Grace Baptist in Zachary LA come and visit us, along with Bro. Tony Howeth and his wife Mrs. Stacey, who were here for our youth conference. We had a great time with the group showing them the local sites, customs and of course the traditional food here in Cochabamba. The day before and of the conference we all went out and passed out tons of invitations for the conference. The group was a great blessing to us and we pray that the Lord was able to use this time to work in their lives. Our youth conference is always one of the most exciting times in our church. The difference between this year and others is that the people of the church were in charge of every part from the planning and decorating to running the conference. All I did was show up and translate. I want to say a special thanks to brother Tony Howeth and his wife for coming this year to preach our youth conference for us. They are always a great blessing and encouragement and we are privileged to call them our friends. We also want to thank you for praying that we would find a house. The Lord has provided a house with a large front yard and at a price we can afford.

The Ministry is Growing:

We praise the Lord that the ministry is growing here in Bolivia. Since our arrival here in the country we have been working with the Laura family. Lorenzo was pastoring a church in Arequipa Peru when the Lord began to work in his heart about coming to Bolivia as a missionary. He and his family have been working in the northern part of Bolivia in the city of Cobija. Bro. Laura recently wrote me about a new work that was being started a few hours from them in a small town called Buyuyo. I know it’s a weird name right? They had two men from the church in Cobija that moved to this city and began to invite people to come out and hear the Bible. From there the meetings began to grow until now they are baptizing many in the group and they are hoping to establish it as an official church. The two men come every week on Friday to take classes in the Bible Institute that they have in the church in Cobija, and on the weekends they have the services in Buyuyo. Please pray for these men as they continue to prepare and reach out to the many communities in the tropical area in the north of Bolivia. At this time, Pastor Lorenzo is trying to raise funds to build two new classrooms on to the church. If you would like to help them build these two classrooms please let us know and send to our support address below with a note telling what it is for. We praise the Lord for Bro. Lorenzo and his family and their faithful service to the Lord.

Ministry Update:

Please continue to pray for our building fund project here in Bolivia. We praise the Lord that we now have close to ten thousand dollars toward the project and the Lord continues to bless. I recently got word from one of our supporting churches, Newton Baptist Church, that they took up a special offering for the land and are sending $500 to help. With this we will pass the ten thousand mark but we realize that we still have a long way to go. Please continue to pray for this need and that we can soon be in our own building and don’t forget that what you give will impact lives for all eternity.

Prayer Requests:

1. Pray for Bro. John Pearson who will be with us for our financial conference this month.
2. Pray that the Lord will give us strong families and leaders in the church.
3. Pray for the funds needed to buy land and build a church building.
4. Pray for our children as they start school this month.
