Miguel Murillo’s July 2011 Update from Peru

Dear Brethren,

It is a pleasure to be able to direct myself to you, thanking God for your love for the work and for your faithful service. We would like for you to know that you are a big part of the work that God is doing here in Peru and in various parts of our country.

Macedonia Baptist Seminary

This month, we held a pastor’s fellowship with the pastors from our area at the Shalom Baptist Church. We were also able to visit the Open Door Baptist Church in Iquique from the 23rd to the 26th of June where we spoke about missions. I want to thank Missionary Curtis Couch for the invitation as well as pastor Juan Carlos Lopez for his hospitality, as well as each member for the church that made us feel at home.

In the first week of the month of July, we will be finishing up the first semester of classes. Many of the students will return to their cities to be able to help at their churches during the month of vacations. I ask for your prayers for them and for the students that will return for the next semester which will begin on August 9.

At the end of the month, exactly the 26th to the 29th of July, we will have the XIII Youth Conference in which we hope to have a great group of teenagers, young people, and workers from different places. We ask that you support us in prayer for the invited pastor, the classes and the different expenses that we will have.

Christian School

We had a special event for Father’s Day on Monday June 20 with the fathers and the pastors of our students. Additionally, the students prepared different types of traditional dinners for June 24th for the fellowship. I ask that you continue to pray for the teachers also for provision for the different repairs that we are making to our infrastructure.

Hunter Baptist Church

We have now finished 20 years, and we held our missions conference the week of June 16th to the 19th. We had the privilege of having various missionaries and invited pastors who we continue to faithfully support with our faith promise.

On Friday the 17th, God blessed us with the presence of a great friend and servant of God, a missionary to North Africa. He greatly encouraged the brethren with his presence. Additionally on Sunday the 19th, Mrs. Betty Gardner came for a visit. It was a very special service.

Esmirna Baptist Church

We were praying for about the possibility to move us to a new locale that would be a little larger however the rent required by the owners was very high, so we continue to seek for another location. We will be renewing the contract for our current location in the month of September that will last for two additional years.

We had a very special day on Sunday the 19th for Father’s Day with breakfast for them and the presence of a missionary from North Africa whose presence encouraged us very much.

We began a institute for the brothers at our church each Wednesday night an hour before services begin. Pastor Mauro Huaman comes and teaches Old Testament Survey while I am teaching a group of brethren Counseling one time per month from 7 until 10 in the morning. This month the course will be taught on the 9th of July.

Berea Baptist Church
Just as with the other churches, we held lunch for Father’s day on Sunday the 19th in which the brethren held a special dinner. Each weekend, we have a visitation program to knock on new doors, hoping to have new visitors at each service. We have various faithful people such as Sister Clara and her daughter Sister Zenaida.

We always remember you with our prayers. Blessings!

Miguel Murillo
