When Vision Baptist Church was officially started in March of 2006 we had all the dreams and desires of most church plants. We prayed that God would use our combined efforts to see people come to know Christ and become followers of Him. It was also our desire that God would use our new church plant to be a place that people could be equipped for missions service. Over the last 12 years God has been very gracious to us and allowed us to see this dream become a reality!

In the summer of 2005 a handful of use moved to Alpharetta. We started to learn the “lay of the land” and begin meeting people. One night a group of us decided to go to “Meetup” where people were learning spanish. Being that we spent time together in Peru, South America most of the group knew some spanish and thought it would be a great way to meet some people we could talk to about Jesus and let them know about the new church that would be started the following year. At that meeting we met a very, young Miguel Sanabria. I believe he was a sophomore in HIgh School at this time. Shortly after that night a Bible Study was started in the home of some of the family members of Miguel. He began to hear the Word of God taught. Miguel came to know Christ around this time!

Miguel was the first fruit we saw as a church family! As I look back on those days I think about all the decisions Miguel made. I also think about the time he wondered away from church for a short time and how an invitation to help translate our discipleship material (Foundations) helped bring him back into being an engaged member of the church. There is no doubt God used Vision Baptist Church to help mold his life into the servant he is today. As I reflect on this I can’t help but think about how much this first new disciple helped build and shape our church.

It was because of Miguel we first gathered and prayed for people of Alpharetta by name to come and know Christ. It was through this first convert that we discussed finding a place for our first baptism. It was in part because of our responsibilty to this new convert we worked to develop a discipleship curriculm in spanish. Through Miguel being involved then starting to drift away we began to consider how to help our young people who leave church after high school. In later years God used Miguel to help build the church as he serves our spanish pastor.

The story of any church is the story of God using people to help lead others into a growing relationship with Him. Tonight as Miguel will share testimony of the fact that God has used this church to mold his life we must also remember how God uses new beleivers to help build and shape the ministry of our church. The life of our church and the life of Miguel will forever be connected and that is how it should be.

Last Thursday night, Vision celebrated a historic event as we ordained our first two deacons, Chuck Littlefield and Micah Rastelli. These men have filled the role of deacon long before we ordained them. Last Thursday night was our public acknowledgment that we have seen God working in their lives and that we know God has appointed them to this office in the church.

Chuck and Micah are what we desire to see as the beginning of a long line of strong faithful men working as senders at Vision to make sure we honor the Lord in our purpose as a church for many many years to come.

Thank you Chuck and Micah for loving and honoring the Lord with your lives and for serving Vision as our first deacons!

I would like to invite you to join me Sunday at my church! I have been hoping you would be able to join me for a service sometime. This is a great week to visit. There will be many other people visiting this week as well. We will be going to the park for lunch after the service. I think you will really enjoy getting to know my church family. They are a loving group of people who are committed to one another and most importantly Jesus.

I will save you a seat in my 9:30 am Adult Bible Fellowship class. We have classes for all ages and stages of life. Our morning worship service starts at 10:30 am. I will save you a seat with me there as well. You will find our music to BE lively and full of truth about Jesus. We are currently in a preaching series in the book of John. Sunday we will be in John 16 starting at verse 15. My Pastor just preaches verse by verse through the Bible. We believe it is God’s Word, not man’s word, that change lives!

Many of the teens from our Church will be attending the camp and they are excited to see what God is going to be doing in their lives.  Already, they have been working hard on fundraiser projects to collect all the needed money for camp.  But they still need more…..

So that’s where Kamp Kitchen comes in!  Every Thursday night at 5:30, the teenagers will be serving a full meal at the church.  And the cost is only $5.00!!!  All proceeds will go towards the student camp fund.

The first of our Kamp Kitchen dinners is this Thursday, APril 26th at 5:30 pm.  YOU DO NOT WANT TO MISS THIS!!!  Sign up below so the Kamp Kitchen staff will be prepared for you this Thursday night!

On April 12th-13th, Pastor Scott Tewell, senior pastor of Rosedale Baptist Church in Baltimore, Maryland, will be at Vision for our annual Bible Expo!

The Bible Expo is an amazing conference that focuses on expository preaching of the Bible.  Expository preaching is the presentation of biblical truth, derived from a transmitted thought, a historical, grammatical, spirit-guided study of a passage in its context, which the Holy Spirit applies first to the life of the preacher and then through him to his congregation.  We spend lots of time telling people that we believe the Bible. We preach about why we should preach the Bible.  But we very often don’t really say what the Bible says.  The Bible Expo will help you to sharpen our skills and learn more how to preach the Word of God correctly.

Pastor Tewell has a lot of experience when it comes to expository preaching.  He began ministering to the dedicated group of Christians at Rosedale Baptist Church in 1997.  Since then, God has marvelously blessed and multiplied the congregation from under 200 to over 1500 in attendance weekly as he sought to honor and glorify God through chapter by chapter and verse by verse teaching.  In 2010, Pastor Tewell finished teaching through his 59^th book.

During the morning service of April 15th, we will be holding a baby dedication for our church, at the we will also be giving out one of the strollers from the babystroller reviews to one lucky family.

This is a time for you, as parents, to dedicate yourselves and your baby to the Lord. You are making a public commitment before God, the church, and family that you promise to raise your child in a Godly way and nurture spiritually, until the child can make a decision of their own to follow Jesus. In turn, the church is making a commitment to help the parents by praying and being involved in supporting you in helping your child know Jesus.

During the dedication, you will present yourselves and your baby to the church.  Pastor will pray with you and a picture will be taken.

We are trying to determine how many babies will be dedicated this day, so please register below so we can have an accurate count for Sunday!

They will be taking the pictures from 2:30-9:30 pm on Friday and from 9:30-2:30 pm on Saturday.  Just for participating in the photo shoot, Olan Mills will be giving you a free church directory and a $25 certificate. You will have the option to purchase your portrait, but this is not necessary to receive a copy of the church directory.

Many of you may have already signed up for a time on the sign-up sheet.  But if you haven’t, it is not to late, because there are still a few select spots available.  So tonight, when you come to church, be sure to sign up to have your picture taken for the directory.  And if you have already signed up, be sure to mark your time on your calendar, so you won’t be late.
