Snode March 2011 Prayer Letter

Outreach Update

Since 10 February, our church has personally delivered gospel literature to over 6200 homes. Many of these are homes that we have never contacted before. The whole church has been involved in this effort. Some people have helped to prepare the literature, others have come out with us on Saturday mornings for our organised outreach times, and others have just gone out on their own or with us throughout the week. Please pray that God will bring forth fruit from this effort. Up to this point, we have not had any visitors come to the church directly from this effort, but we have seen other visitors comes from their friends inviting them.

Men’s & Ladies’ Fellowships

This past Tuesday night, we had our first men’s and ladies’ fellowships. We got the idea for this from our home church, and it worked very well. The men and women were divided. The women had a time of fellowship, Bible study, and prayer. The men had a time of fellowship, watched a missions video, had a time of prayer, and then worked through a quiz and study about some men in the Bible. We had 18 people come out on Tuesday. One of those was a first time visitor, so we praise the Lord for that. We are planning to continue these fellowships on the first Tuesday night of the month.

Special Need for Sam Quinn

As many of you are aware, Sam Quinn has been here working with us for the past seven months. Sam has been doing a fantastic job. He is a very dedicated worker and has been a huge asset to the ministry. He heads up the music ministry in the church, teaches the Teen Bible Class on Sunday mornings and the children’s class on Tuesday nights, helps with the Friday night youth club, and helps make so much of what goes on at the church possible. We rent a small apartment for Sam to stay in, and one need that he has is for a tumble dryer. As you may know the weather here makes it difficult to hang your clothes outside, so we are trying to raise £120 ($200) to buy him a dryer. If you would like to help with this need, you can give via paypal on our website or you can send your gift to MWBM (PO Box 519, Braselton, GA 30517) and mark it “Sam Quinn”. At the moment, Sam is planning to stay with us for another 18 months and is in need of more monthly support as well. If you would like to support him, please let him or us know.

UK Border Agency

This week we had a meeting with the UK Border Agency. They were inspecting the process by which we sponsor workers (i.e. church-planters, etc.) to come into the UK. There is a ton of paperwork and some cost involved with this process, but thankfully, we only need to make a few changes went, and we should be able to continue to be a sponsor.

Building Update

We are continuing to ask God to guide us regarding a building. We did find out about a building on the cityside that might be available for us to rent office space and use meeting rooms during service times. Please pray that God would help us find a much cheaper option that is affordable for our church. We are also trying to set up a youth club in the Hazelbank area of the city. There have a few challenges involved in finding a place to meet, so pray for that as well.

Increased Church Involvement

We are so thankful for the continued involvement of our people in the ministry of the church. Many people are stepping up to help with different ministries of the church, and this has been such a blessing. We are trying to do our best to disciples, train, and then release them for ministry.

Another Baby on the Way

Last, but definitely not least, Teri and I are expecting another baby, due in September! We are so thankful for Grant, Darci, and Cali, and we are excited about this fourth child. Please pray for Teri’s health and strength and for the baby’s health. God has been so good to us, and we praise Him for the opportunity to be in the ministry!

Yours to evangelize the world in our generation,

Travis, Teri, Grant, Darci, & Cali Snode
