I was born and raised in the United States after my parents moved here from the Philippines in the 80’s. They were saved right before I was born and because of that, I was raised both in a Christian home and a Baptist church. Church became a big part of our lives and I grew up to become, honestly, the best kid in the church. The list of my achievements and ministries was impressive to the church and myself. It impressed me so much that I came to the point that I placed my hope for salvation in that list. One Saturday morning, as a 14 year old, we met at the church to get ready to go out on visitation.
Our pastor explained how, as we went out, we would meet people who place their hope for salvation in the thought that they are a good person. I realized that morning that I was just like these people. Verses I had memorized like Titus 3:5 and Ephesian 2:8-9 finally became real to me and that morning I placed my faith in Jesus Christ. As an 18 year old, God caused the truth of His Word, that we are made the righteousness of God in Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 5:21), to become so overwhelmingly wonderful that I gave my life to be a missionary so others would know the truth of the gospel. Since then, I have trained for the ministry through the Our Generation Training Center through Vision Baptist Church.
While being mentored by missionaries I also had the opportunity to serve in the church as the music director, an adult and young adult Sunday School teacher, a discipleship teacher, and an event coordinator. I have also had the opportunity to train for the ministry during a period of close to eight months in China. While there, I worked at learning the language, went on and planned different outreach activities, started and taught Bible studies, and preached. I am happy to be serving the Lord and cannot wait to see what He might do with us in China!
