Do Babies Go To Hell
15 Open your bibles to Matthew Nineteen. We're going through a Bible verse by verse. Today. We're going to answer the question or attempt to answer the question or given an opinion with scripture. Do babies go to hale? What happens with small children die? And so, uh, we're gonna. Look at that and the Bible and say that together, and I hope that you will, uh, be able to share this with somebody. I hope it will bless you. Many of us are, many of you, I've lost grandchildren and many of you have lost babies and you might wonder what happens and you might wonder where they are. And so I hope this passage of scripture is a blessing to you today. Get Your Bible out. Get out a sheet of paper. Look everything up. Write it down so you'll be ready. The Bible says in Matthew Nineteen, 13, then were brought unto him little children that he should put his hands on them and pray and the disciples rebuked them.
12 But Jesus said, suffer, allow the little children and forbid them not to come unto me for of such is the Kingdom of Heaven, and he laid his hands on them and departed fence as really kind of like what we do when we have a blessing service for children where we dedicate the children and say we're going to pray over them and that the rabbis had that custom. And so Jesus said, no, you let the little kids come to me. I want to pray for them. I want to work in their life. And so today we're going to say that passage of scripture and the Bible and I hope you'll go home excited about how good God you serve. Let's bow our heads for prayer. Father, I thank you for what you're doing and I thank you for the wonderful chance of serving you. Thank God for many people who have given their lives in service of our country and we remember their families today.
01 I thank you for Betty is local and my uncle that both died in world war two because they loved the country. Loved you and I pray your blessings on their families and I'll pray, dear God, that you bless everyone that's here. I pray, God, you'd help us to grow as we study your word. I pray you give us confidence, not in what I say, but what they see. The Bible says, and as they study it today and learn that it would apply to their lives and work. I pray, God, that you bless some people that are especially hurting this morning because of tragedies that happened right around them and they need your special touch. They need to know that you love them. They need to know that you're there and faithfulness. I pray you'd bless and working that way. I pray for every parent here, Lord, that might've lost a child or is trying to raise children there. Got It. Today we would learn how to be better parents and bring honor to your name and the way we raise our children, and I will give you praise for all you do. We love you and thank you. In Jesus' name. Amen. Take your bibles if you would open them to Matthew Chapter Nineteen.
03 Death has touched every one of our homes, and if it hasn't touched your home, it will soon. I stood by the grave of a little baby. It was stillborn young missionary couple. They buried their baby. Uh, and uh, the question always comes up and I've been asked lots of times and I don't think we've ever addressed it in the church. What happens when a baby dies? Where does that go? What's the Bible say? So when I get through, I'm going to run you all over the Bible today. You're going to mark down versus, and I hope that they will be a blessing to you in the passage of scripture. They're bringing the children to Jesus. And that's word that is used as a word that refers to small children like infants to toddlers. Uh, Luke 18, 15. The Bible uses the same idea and use it as the word, makes it very clear.
55 And they brought unto him also infants that he would touch them, but his disciples saw it and they rebuked him. Jesus said earlier just a couple of weeks ago in our passage of scripture and took a small child and use them as an illustration about who was the greatest in the kingdom. Jesus was very kind and gentle and tender with children. I want you to notice a few things before we dig into the scripture. There no mention of a special prayer for salvation or the baptizing of a child. In this passage of scripture now thing about infant baptism is mentioned in this scripture or any other description, a nothing about them being saved, nothing about them entering the covenant, nothing about India that happening simply, we see a kind teacher, rabbi, Lord Jesus Christ who is taking care. What happens to infants when they die? What happens to very small children who die before they can understand the gospel?
56 Do you have a Bible reason for whatever you might believe? What happens to mentally handicapped? People who are never mentally able to understand the gospel? I'm going to share a scripture with you that I believe will give you hope that his grace and mercy is extended to those children. So we need to understand several things, so I'm going to walk you through several different things. Number one, we need to know why people go to hale the answer this question. So why do people go to hell? There is a hill, the Bible is clear about that, and people do die and go to hell. Well, why do people die and go to hale? We need to understand that the Bible teaches that God loves everyone and wants all to be saved. You'll know more about that by the time we finished. We need to see in the Bible how God dealt with the children in the Bible when there was sin and how he dealt with it.
52 So I hope all this will bring your true responsibility into focus. So the first thing if you take notes is why do people go to hell? Why do people go to hale? So go with me to John Chapter three and verse 18. Why do people go to hell? People go to hell because they are condemned already. You should write that down somewhere. They are condemned already. The Bible says in John Chapter Three, in verse 18, he that believeth on him is not condemned, but he that believeth not is condemned already because he had not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. You should underline that with every person on this planet who is not yet a believer is already condemned. They're already condemned. It's not like you get to a certain place that God says, all right, you're gonna. Go to hell. It's not like you get to a certain place and you become condemned.
54 They are already condemned. If you are not a believer, you are marked for hail. If you are not a believer, you are marked for hail. There'll be plenty of verses a jump. You understand that we are not there. They are condemned already because cn and death entered into the world. The Bible says in Romans Chapter Five and verse 12, wherefore as by one man, sin entered into the world and death by sin, so death passed upon all men for that all have sinned. So two things happened at Romans Chapter Five, verse 12 explains to us, and that is this Adam and eve, they send and when they sin, death came into the world and when they said we all liked them, yet that same attitude, that same way of living and seeing becomes a part of who we are, rebellion, but doing it in our own way.
46 That's the human way to live the way you want to live. And so they sent that we are centered because we're born in sin. We sin because that's our nature, but we also choose to sin. It ends averse Sam, for that all have sin. So people don't go to hell because they're, uh, they are guilty already. They are condemned already. They're sinners. We are born into a world that can rules in and that world would sweep us into hail. The Bible says in Romans Chapter One in verse 20, that everybody on the planet is without excuse. Everybody on the planet is without excuse. The Bible says in Romans 1:20 for the invisible things of him from the creation of the world, which are clearly seen being understood by the things that are made even as eternal power and godhead so that they are without excuse.
41 No one can say, I didn't know. I didn't know there was a god I didn't know there was somebody bigger than me. I thought I was the biggest thing on the planet. I thought I was the smartest thing on the planet. God says, they look up and see the creation. They see the stars. I see the solar system. They see a creation and they realize somebody bigger than me is out there. Somebody who's greater than I am is out there and God says, just by that alone, they are without excuse. Man Sees Him. Someone's bigger man actually chooses to ignore God is pretty hard. It's pretty hard to say, hey man, I just don't believe anybody did. I think all this was casual, random, accidental stuff that happened. No, you got to pretty well be a a person who chooses that idea. The truth is you walk into this room and this little room right here, all these chairs are lined out.
37 Most of you don't have any idea. No. It never would cross your mind. All this got put in place by accident. Last night the earthquake happened. All the chairs lined up. Everything got straight in that really nice. How things just accidentally turn out that way. Very few of you are that intelligent. Most of your kind of like somebody must have them chairs up, man. So he said, you know whether you want to admit it or not, you know there is a god you know whether you want to admit it or not, that nobody could believe that this just accidentally happened out of some big bang. They are without excuse. You just choose to ignore God. You choose to make your own decisions. That's why people go to hill people. The Bible says that they have a conscience. Look at Romans chapter two and verse 15. The Bible says it whether you know it or not, you know, without even ever hear in the Bible than what's right and wrong.
29 You know that. You know there's a god you know there's right and there's wrong. The Bible says, Romans 2:15, which show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience, also very witnessing her thoughts, the meanwhile accusing, or else excusing one another man knows in his heart that he's sending. If you're hearing today and you'd be an extremely intelligent person who doesn't believe in God, it doesn't believe in heaven, doesn't believe in hell, doesn't believe it. He, that you're above that. You're smarter than that. The facts are you know inside whether you'd ever admitted or not. Something inside said not right. You know there's a god and you know you're wrong. That's what the Bible's saying and making very clear man chooses to do his own thing instead of what God would have. He doesn't want to listen to what God has to say.
17 Bible says in Romans chapter three, verse 10 and following, if you got your Bible Open, you ought to know this. You ought to know this. If I was in, there's none righteous, no, not one Bible says in Romans 3:11. There's none that understands nobody seeking after God. The Bible says, verse 12 said, everybody's got out of the way. Everybody's chosen to get off the path. Get either way God wants, they'd become profitable. They don't do good on one of them. Verse 18 says, there's no respect of God before their eyes, no fear of God. Verse Nineteen, God said, I Brung the teaching of Bible so that every mouth may be stopped and all the world may become guilty before God. We have all sin against the holy God. We all deserve punishment. Hail shouldn't be like, wow, I can't imagine that there would be a hill. Actually, you should be like, I fully understand why there would be a hill.
10 I do understand. I do my own thing and you should. If you know anything about the Bible, if you have any idea that rule was created, if you have a conscience, you should know, man, I am guilty before God because all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. In second, testimony is chapter one. In verse eight, the Bible says, in flaming fire, taking vengeance on them that know not god. Now you'd have to understand if God's going to take vengeance on those that know not god, but the reason they know not god, and they chose not to know God, and then it says that, obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. In revelation chapter 20 verses 11 and following, there'll be a great white throne judgment, and when that judgment takes place, they will be judged according to their works. The Bible says in Romans, in revelation 20 verse 12, last words according to their works, verse 13 last words, according to their worse, so they lived an entire lifetime doing what they want to do.
13 They lived an entire lifetime ignoring that there was a god ignoring the God had a plan. They live their entire life to people go to hill because they have chosen to reject the god of Heaven. They've chosen to reject him. And Verse Fifteen, their name is not written in the lamb's book of life. So before I move on, just let me make it clear, man needs God. All men everywhere have sin against a holy God. No one should ever think we're all going to end up in heaven. No one should ever think everything's going to be okay. In the end, we will all live happily ever after. That is a fable that is a fairy tale that is not true, man sinned against God and that sand separated man from God for all of eternity. If it were not for the goodness of our God, which takes us to point number two, that you should write down.
11 Number two, we're number one. Why do people go to the hill? Because they don't believe God. Number two, God wants everybody to be saved. God wants everybody to be saying, look, if you want in your Bible. Second Peter, Chapter three and verse nine, the Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness. Let me change that to Tennessee. He'll believe for you. God Ain't just wasting time like some people might waste time. God isn't getting things done like you all to get things done just like you might think. God has a purpose in waiting. God has a purpose and not bringing this to a close. God has a purpose and not coming in judgment, and here's why, because he is long suffering. He is very patient. He waits a long time because he is not willing that any should perish. You saw online that he is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
13 He said, God could close this thing down. God who created the world in seven, six days and rested on a zero day. He could bring it all to a screeching halt. He could stop. You're alive. You can do anything he wants. My boy, he's patient. He's waiting on you to hear the Gospel, waiting on you to know the truth, waiting on you to believe because he doesn't want you to go to hill. If you go to hill, there's going to be because you choose not to believe and love him. The Bible says he wants everyone saved. In First Timothy Chapter two, in verse three, the Bible said, this is good and acceptable in the sight of God, our Savior, God, our slavery. He said, man, this is good. This is what I like, verse four, who will have all men to be saved, who will have all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
01 God doesn't want anyone to go don, go to hale. He wants them all to come to the knowledge of the truth. He wants them all to be saved. God doesn't want to see anyone perish or die or go to hell. John Three 16, for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believes should not perish. That's that word perish. She don't want anybody to die, so I love this. That's why he sent Jesus, and in First John Two, two, the Bible said, and he is the propitiation, the sin payment, the mercy seat from the Old Testament. He is the mercy seat for our sins, not for ours only, but for the sins of the whole world. He's a loving God. He won't saw whole world will be saved. Matthew 18, 14, he said, even so, it is not the will of your father, which is in heaven, that these little ones should perish. He doesn't want anybody to die and go to hill. He is a good God and you're 30 3:11. He said, I don't like it when bad people die. Huh? I don't even like it when bad people die. Look at it. He says, as say, under them as I live, says the Lord God. I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked one. I walked, so we're going to turn from his way and live. Turn you, turn you from your evil ways. Why will you die? O House of Israel. He doesn't want people to die. He actually wanted them to bring those children to him.
29 In Mark Chapter Ten verses 13 and following, he said, they brought young children and the disciples rebuked them an in verse 1,409. He was very displeased. He was much displeased. And then he said, hey guys, what's going on? Children Shoulder, bring the children to me and Matthew Nineteen, 14 our texts and suffer the little children to come and, and uh, and forbid them not to come unto me for such is the Kingdom of Heaven. The zapple strive to keep the children away. And he wanted them to come. It was actually angry, displeased, much displeased that the disciples would keep the children from him. So I want you to see, number one, why do people go to hell? We go to hell because we have sinned against a holy God. We deserve it and we earned it. For the wages of sin is death, and the Bible is clear. That's physical death and spiritual death separated from God for all eternity.
29 That's what we deserve, but that's not what God wants. God wants you to be saved. Jesus wants you to be saved. The Holy Spirit wants you to be saved. The God of Heaven wants everyone to come to know Jesus as their savior of. The third thing I'd like you to consider with me is how did God deal with the sin of children in the Bible? How did God deal with the sin of children in Bible? Could? I'm trying to get you to a point in your Bible to understand what happens to babies when they die? Do they go to hell when they die? Do they go to heaven when they die? What would the Bible lead us to understand? Well, the first thing I need to know is, well, they're not going to go to heaven because they're sweet and good because ain't nobody sweet and good on the planet.
10 All have sinned against God and they're not going to go to heaven because they're not going to go to heaven because they deserve it, but God wants everybody to be saved. So in the Bible, what's he had to say about high dealt with can look if you would look at Deuteronomy chapter one in verse 39. He doesn't hold the children responsible for the sins of their parents. They were exempt from the judgment because they had no knowledge. In Deuteronomy chapter one in verse 39 more over your little ones which you said should be a prey, and your children, which in that day had no knowledge between good and evil. They shall go into either under them when I give it and they shall possess it. And I hope you got your Bible open to deuteronomy chapter one because that's a verse you're going to want to mark and you're going to want to remember is what's really a wild and interesting story is God sent.
01 An agent said from there down, they don't understand from there if they do understand, that's not talking about us. It's not talking about. The New Testament is not talking about salvation to children. It's not talking about when you got to get saved, but it shows that God said, there's this limit I'm going to place on who knows what they're doing. It it says in that day had no knowledge between good and evil. It guess how old they were. Twenty year olds and above were considered responsible for the rebellion of their parents and they were part of the evil congregation on that day. Everybody 20 years old and up, they were doomed. Nineteen days, 19 years. Three hundred 60, four days. Still under the age of knowledge of good and evil. 20. Sorry, you're too old. And judgment was broad. I can't say that as he. They knew his salvation except to say to you, shows that God had a recognize the level of responsibility.
59 He seems to have that throughout the scripture. Look at Isaiah Chapter Seven and verse 16, if you would. The Bible says in Isaiah Chapter Seven and verse 16, for Behold, a child shall know to refuse the evil and choose the good the land that thou shall be forsaken of both her kings four, before the child shall know for before the child shall know. For before there was a time when a child doesn't know to refuse the evil and choose the good. Doesn't tell me when, but in Isaiah seven, six CD seemed to know there was a time he seemed to tell me there's a time when they will know. In Jonah chapter four and verse 11, when the children of men have a, were there. There were 120,000 kids that didn't understand like what the Bible says in Jonah four slash seven and the ad. Should I not spared Nineveh, that great city wherein are more than a hundred and 20,000 people, six score thousand people, persons that cannot discern between their right hand and their left hand and a lot of cows, a lot of sheep, lot of animals, a lot of cattle, so it Jonah has sent to Nineveh and Jonah is to proclaim against Snuba, yet 40 days and Nineveh shall be destroyed.
14 The king repents, God has mercy and Jonah gets mad and says, I want you to kill him, and when that happens, a Jonah backs up and sit on a can't believe it, and God said there's a 120,000 people. They didn't understand their left hand and the right hand. Why in the world you won't be so mean. So God's like, I'm a nice guy. I recognize that not everybody understands. It indicates that children didn't understand. God showed mercy at least on those and none of it does that mean he recognized that they have not yet knowingly rebelled. Remember, you're going to hell because you did knowingly rebel. If you're not saved this morning, you have chosen not to be saved. If you are saved, you got to a place in your life where you said, man, I realized I'm a center. I realized I deserved to go to hell.
03 I realized I need to repent of my sin and turn to Christ, and you turned to Christ. Well, babies definitely do not go to heaven because they're innocent. There's no word in the passage here about them getting saved. There's nothing that would indicate that they weren't centers. It's not like Jesus is holding these kids. Oh, these are sweet little innocent little babies. You know, they're just. It's not like they were saved in any loss or salvation. When they got to a certain age, it wasn't like they were good. Then they lost their goodness. They were centers. They just maybe don't have the ability to discern and understand, to discern and understand right and wrong. Yet as children, as a child, this was explained to me that somehow God kept babies safe until they were able to know right from wrong. I think these verses indicate that when I was a child and I had a sister mentally challenged, she finally was.
01 She got to the age of about 12 mentally before she died in her fifties, and I believe that she was born again, but so many kids may not have the ability and you may say, what does the Bible say about what happens to them? I believe what you're seeing here is that God says, will just tell you what I believe and you will go home believing what you want to think. The scriptures are saying here, but God recognize that those 19 year olds weren't responsible for the decision made God realize that those kids were before they would know the difference in right and wrong, and God said that babies die like everybody else because of seeing you do know why people die, don't you? You do know why we're not living forever. If you'd like to go all the way back to the garden of Eden, you'd find that there were two major trees that were important and God said to Adam and Eve, he said, y'all can eat anything you won't in this garden is only one trade I want you to eat.
50 I don't want you to the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. He put the tree of life in there and they could have gone straight over to that tree and eat of that tree and live forever. It was on the menu. If you'd open the menu of the garden of Eden, they would've said oranges, apples, eternal life all on the menu, and the dingbats chose to do the one thing that would bring death to them. Sounds like they must have been one of us. Sounded like they were part of our family, Huh? And so they could have chosen God. They could have lived forever, but they chose not to. In sin, entered in the world, death and sin because of what they did. The Bible said that in Romans 5:12, I hope you vet that marked in your Bible. Wherefore as by one man, sin entered into the world and death by sin, death passed upon all men.
38 He said, well, Adam and eve sinned. Why have I got to die for all, all have sin for that all have seen. I'd say, ma'am, Adam and eve, sure mess us up. Yeah, they messed us up, but I sure didn't do the same thing they did. They were. They were choosing to do the wrong thing and I have chosen to do the wrong thing. We have one story in the Bible is probably the most used and the most comforting story about what happens to your child when he dies, and I'm going to read you the verse that in just a second, but let me say before you get to that story, maybe that story on its own wouldn't have very much strength to it unless you'd read these other stories and knew what these other stories that said lists you had known that those kids 19 years old and below were considered shoulder that didn't know unless you knew from Isaiah that he said before a child can understand.
28 Then maybe you wouldn't understand, but here's what happens. The Bible says in Second Samuel Chapter Twelve and verse 23, David has sinned with Bathsheba. David the king has a wife. He has more than one wife. He's the king. He's a powerful man. He sees one of his best friends, wives. One of his best friends was one of his elite, one of his inner circle, one of his cabinet, one of the fighting mighty men. He has, she's taking a bath. He looks across his, the balcony of his roof, sees her upon her roof, taking a bath. That's not unusual. I think what American should there. They're like, well, what was she doing on the roof? Taking her bad weather. If you lived anywhere outside the US, you might find out that a lot of places. And so a lot of times in South America, people are bathing on the roof.
11 You're bathing on the roof and, and uh, you know, I'll meet you. Hopefully if you've got a neighbor who's got a house hiring you, you put something up so they don't see you. But he saw her and any, any, any. He called for and he had sex with her and she had a baby and she was pregnant and the baby was born and the baby died while the baby was sick though David was praying and fasting and said, Oh God, don't let the baby die. But then the baby died. Then the baby died and when he got up, but everybody was scared of that to tell David that baby died. They were like, man, I've never seen him this discouraged. I've never seen him hurt. We've never seen him so distraught. He's praying for his baby. What are we gonna do? We can't tell him until somebody walked over and said, Dave, King David, your baby has died and this is what happened. Now he's dead. He got up and he stopped fasting. You got upset. Bring me a cheeseburger.
05 He said he got up and he said, wherefore, should I fast? Why should I be fast and can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me. You might have said, well, what's that mean? Well, it could mean he did and I'll go, I'll go be with him in the graveyard. That doesn't sound like a very hopeful thing. Actually. If you were thinking about that just a second, you might say, well, my wife died. That's all right. I'll go lay the graveyard with her again. Well, these days, myself and not exactly the most exciting and romantic thought, man, he. He was a born again, man, most familiar verse. It's used to show this. I believe David was saved and knew it. If I had just one more time, I'd show you. Acts Two 25 through 28, you can look that up later, and Psalm Sixteen, eight through 11, David knew he was going to go to him.
53 He knew that he wouldn't die and stay in the grave. He knew that and he quotes I didn't notice verses he knew that he wasn't dying. Go to the grave, it stay there. He knew that his future destiny wasn't dirt thrown on a casket. He knew that he said he won't leave my soul in the grave. It was a prophecy about Jesus was also prophecy about him. I believe he had a great understanding of God and Lop after the lab. After David believed and expressed his faith that he should go to be with his son. I think that indicates that his child was somehow through grace, given to the president, taken to the presence of the Lord and salvation personally, rest, believing that babies die before the age of accountability, before understanding of right and wrong, before reaching an age of rebellion. When you choose to honor and serve God or you choose to dishonor him, I believe they go to heaven.
50 Those are the verses I would use. I do not believe that a person can be saved without believing. That's my summary. I do not believe a person can be saved without believing. I do believe that God will keep the baby safe somehow. Whatever it's called, by the grace of God, there'll be in heaven. I believe these verses indicate that God did just that with those there wasn't able to understand. Everyone dies because seeing came into the world, God wants everybody to be saved. Here's what I can know for sure. He will always do what's right. He will always do what's right. He is God. He is good and he has great. I'd like to give you the last thing here in the last five minutes today. About what should a Christian parent to understanding this, what should a Christian parent do? Understanding this. First of all, let me tell you this, comfort for the missionary couple who I love very much, who are very sweet and kind of friends of mine.
48 I say to them, I believe from the scripture your baby is in heaven. I'm not absolutely positive of that own a lot of things I don't know, but I think these verses indicate that, but for the majority of us, we will not stand by the casket of a small child, but the majority of us won't go through that. Maybe there were some miscarriages, but the truth is when we have children, the Lord gave us four children. They all got married, so that's eight children. They have had grandkids that's 18 and one of those kids on one of our children's about Teva knows, so there'll be 19. Every Christian parent on a tape being apparent very seriously. Jesus thought children were important. He said, let the little children come to me. Don't forbid them. So I'd like to end by calling your attention to the importance of being a parent.
38 If Jesus was busy enough, going to die in a few hours, in a few weeks, he's going to die, and if he was busy enough, he need to be talking to adults and trading future church leaders, but you would take time for kids. Maybe you should realize that being a parents a big deal, now you should realize being a parent is a big deal. The Bible says in Ephesians chapter six in verse four, fathers provoke not your children to wrath, but bring them up in the nurture and the admonition of the Lord. I wish you'd underline provoke not to raft. Don't just be a jerk. Don't act like your kids are a nuisance. Don't give your kids a reason to just dislike you. I am guilty of everything I'm about to say. This is one of those messages where it's really hard to preach because I have now a dad have grown children and could look at me and say, well, data, we wish you'd have known that better when you were teaching us and raised us, and so I honestly, I stand.
39 I stand before you. Not like an expert but like a failure, but I remind you, this is what the scripture says and not what I say. Number one thing, what do you want to do? Be responsible to teach and raise your children for his honor. You should write that down. You should write it down. You are to be responsible to teach and raise him for his honor and his glory, to provoke them, not to bring them up in the nurture and the admonition. Psalm one, 27, three. The Bible says, children are a heritage of the Lord and the fruit of the womb, his reward digital. God would look down and say, you didn't get that baby because y'all did that. That ain't how you got that baby. I gave you that baby. That's what God would say. God has said this. Say No physical act. He said, well, there's a physical act involved. Maybe so, but there's a lot of people doing that and babies aren't being born. God would say, I gave you that baby. That's a pretty sweet thing. Amen. God gave me those four wonderful children that he gave me. Then he said that they are like arrows in the hands of a mighty man and I should be happy having my children.
43 There's nothing you can do to save your children until they make a decision to trust Christ. Nothing you can do. You can't get them baptized. You can't get them. Get them into the covenant. You can't get them dedicated and blessed to be saved. You could promise to pray for them. You can lead them and guide them the best way you can. You can get them in church. You give them under Bible preaching, but they will have to make their own decision. They will come to an age one day when they decide, I will believe God or I will reject God so we can dedicate ourselves to raise our children for his honor and his glory. So I'll give you some verses real quickly. Give you some verses. Number one, command them to follow you.
33 Look at genesis chapter 18, verse 19. This is one of my favorite verses. Every data mom to look this verse up and market and put a star by. It is one of my favorite verses in the whole Bible. Every granddaddy automark does verse. The Bible says about Abraham. God said, I know him. I know all Abraham and I know he will command his children and his household after him and they shall keep the way of the Lord to do justice and judgment that the Lord may bring upon Abraham that which you spoken. Do you understand what he said? He said after him, see now, let me explain something to you. You can't send your kids to Sunday school. You can't tell your kids to go read their Bible. You can't tell your kids to go believe in Jesus. You need to tell your kids. Watch Daddy.
19 Come on. Come on. Watch Daddy. Watch Mama. Follow us. I command you. I teach you and train you. Be like me. I love Jesus. How about that one? Thank you. Say Amen. Jeff. Nobody else, but anyway, it's a good one. Proverbs 22, six, train them up. In a way they should go. You should sit down and say, I need to figure out how to live. I need to figure out what to do with their life. I need to train them up. Joshua chapter 24 and verse 15. You should give him a godly example. Josh was at the end of his ministry and he said, Ins Chapter Joshua chapter 24, verse 15. He ends it by saying, I'll just say this, as for me and my family, we're going to serve God. Daddy made a decision. We're going to be in the house of God. We're going to be reading. Our bibles are to be praying.
10 We're going to be serving God. We're going to be honored and with our money. Daddy just made a decision kind of sound like Abraham who said, I'll come in after me. Oh, it was beautiful about Abraham. Abraham didn't even say that. A little bit about Abraham. God said, I know him and he'll do it. Man, I hope God knows me like that. Hope not. God knows that I'll do that. We should teach them the Bible. Deuteronomy six, seven. He said, teach them diligently unto your children. Talk to them while you sitting in your house while you're walking up and down the sidewalk when you're laying down and when you get to teach them to your children, teach them to your children that you listened to me. I know the modern day thing is one our church on Sunday morning and head out the rest of the week and don't even worry about God long as you click in your one hour and check it off of your list.
58 I made my one hour of, hey woo, I backup on Fsu. I'd be like, we're going to be doing several of them Sunday and Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday and Thursday and Friday and Saturday. We're going to do it stuff. When they get up, when they go to bed, we're going to be doing stuff because I want to know Jesus. I wanna know Jesus. I want them to know Jesus. Trust God with your children. Trust God with your children. The Bible says in proverbs three, five, trust in the Lord and lean not on your own understanding in all your ways. Acknowledge Him and he shall direct your paths. Don't be wise in your own understanding, and Psalm 37 in verse five, it says, commit your way to the Lord, trust in him, and he shall bring it to pass. Commit your way. Every one of your parents.
46 Listen to me. I want you to be comforted as you go home today and realized, man, if my baby died, I'm pretty sure went to heaven. Now look all around the world and I see so many kids die in most countries. You might not know this in most countries. When they give you a life expectancy, the life expectancy in that country is 56. You'd probably think there's nobody older than 56 in there, but that's not what happens. I lived in one of those countries. What happens is so many kids die under the age of 10. There's still a whole heap old people I can remember. I knew Peruvians were 100 years old. Now they supposed to die within 56 notes. The average when you take out thousands of kids a die. I wonder sometimes if God in His mercy, let them die before their parents and mess them up, let them go to heaven. I hope you realize medicine important thing you're doing. You're a parent. Hey, don't stop the kids from coming to me. Let them come. Let them come. I wonder how many parents stand between God and their pattern or children. I don't mean to. You can go ahead and get mad at me. I'm an old man, but the day sports become more important than Jesus to you
55 the date money, because more important than Jesus to you the day prestige because more important than Jesus, to you the day education, whatever it is, and you're supposed to commit your way to the Lord. Trust the Lord. Remember they are the Lord's. He said there at the heritage of the Lord, that there's a heritage of the Lord God gave you that. Get and give you a kid. Do what you wanted with it, gave you that kid said, I'll loan you that kid now raising him for me. Hey Man. Enjoy your children in the time with him. Pray every day that God will direct your paths, but you prepare them for whatever God wants. Love your children so you do what's best for them. God didn't give you children for your pleasure, and they certainly weren't given to you to be a nuisance. They're our responsibility before God. They are a privilege that God has given you.
49 A couple of more things to say to you before we quit. Just in summary, one of the sweetest, most wonderful things I'll never forget marrying betty was like the most absolutely wonderful thing that ever happened to me after salvation. I cannot explain to you what a 18 year old boy, three days before he turned 19, felt like when he got married, when I found a woman that would love me, skinny or fat, young or old, I mean it was like the most wonderful day of my life and has been a wonderful 41 and a half years, but there was always something that was slightly missing in our marriage. Man, the day God gave us a baby, the day betty's got really scared me to death, she came and told me she was pregnant. I said, oh, stake, how are we gonna pay for that? I couldn't.
34 I couldn't even buy food for too much less. Three. I didn't know how he's going to pay this bill, but man, when I brought that little boy home, when I held that little boy in my hands, my heart exploded with love. I was so excited and so proud to be a dad. I was so blessed by the God of Heaven. I'd be able to have a child. I could not explain how wonderful that was. What a privilege God gave me to be a daddy. I didn't want any girls babies. I did not want any girl babies. I told God in prayer specifically, I'm your man. I serve you. I raised preachers so don't give me no women. When I was sitting in that outer room back then, they wouldn't let you in there with, you know, nowadays every, the whole family's in there filming the thing like you're done at six flags or something. Back in my day and time, you go out and allowed in the room. You were like, you were like persona non grata. You were like, no, not welcome people, and sitting in that room and the doctor came and said, congratulations, Mr Gardner. I was a real old man, like 22, 24 maybe, and he said, congratulations, Mr Gardner, you have a little girl. And I went, oh, steak.
41 Then I walked around and looked through that window and I saw her and I cannot explain what happened. Mammo heart. I was afraid. I told Betty, I said, I don't think we should ever have another baby. I said, [inaudible], I love Chris so much. There's just no way I could ever love another child. I was no way. I don't have that much love, but on the day Stephanie was born, my heart exploded and blew up into bigger pieces. I found out I had lots more room for love. What was sweet and I was happy. The prettiest little girl. I'm like, what idiot didn't want a girl say, man, and then God gave me another daughter. She wasn't that good. No, she was a great girl. She's sitting right there, sitting right there. What are privileged to have her the day before she was born, I told betty, betty was crying.
20 Betty said, baby's gonna be born in Nick Knight, and Betty said, I changed my mind. I don't want to have this baby. I said, I think he's a little late. I mean she would like this big, and I said, pain endured for the night, but joy comes in the morning. Next day she was born and then David came in, the caboose. Courageous kid ever born to a family on the planet. But man, what a happy fan, friendly, sweet, loving kid. I wouldn't trade it. What a privilege to be a daddy, but what a responsibility for precious live. Some of you got like 25 kids. How much more responsibility is that? The mighty mies and the nine? Are you man?
06 Do children who die before they're old enough to make a decision? Go to hill? I don't think they do. I believe that they go to heaven. Help you been comforted about their eternal state today. More than that, I hope you are certain about your own eternal destiny. I spent time on hail, on purpose because you need to know. You're getting to know. You need to know. You need to know I'm not stuttering. You need to know you're saved. You know you'd go to heaven when you die. Have you believed that Jesus, what Jesus did on the cross of calvary view believed him and trusted him? If not, today's your day. Another question. Are you serious? Taking seriously the great responsibility it is to get the gospel to your children that are still living by seeing it all worried about what happens, their kid had died and they don't seem to worry about the kid that got live. Lord, help me. If I had a kid alive, I'd be worried about their salvation product. Grandkid who didn't know Jesus, I'd be worried. I am worried. Do you seek to get them under the Gospel continually? Do you pray for them? Do you share the Gospel with them? Do you model trusting Jesus to them? Would your kids say, I know what it's like to trust Jesus. I watched mom and dad
20 will they hear you talking about him? Jesus, God, what he has done for you enough to want to believe and hope your kids are sitting around the house and said, you know, I know God's great because I mom and dad talk about they love him. They talked to him before they eat. They talked to him in the morning. They talk about him. They talk about how good he is. If they follow your example and they follow after you, will Jesus be first in their lives or you teach them another lesson? Don't let the. Don't stop the children of them. Come to me. Don't forbid the kids. Come, let them come to me. That's what the Kingdom of God's made of. People that believe like a little kid. Kids are important to Jesus. They are important to Jesus and how you're raised them's important. Don't make it a light thing. Would you heads bowed your eyes closed,
09 a lot of facts, a lot of truth real quick, but you might be here today and you're not absolutely sure you'd go to heaven if you died board. Today's a day to know if you realize this, people go to hell because they refuse to believe in Jesus. He loves you and he died on a cross for you so that you can be saved. He paid your sin debt. It's all done. All you gotta do is come and get the gift you're not. It's not like you got to change anything. It's not like you're going to have to. You're going to have to do a bunch of good stuff. Get baptized. Joined the church, give a lot of money. No, the God of Heaven, the author of salvation, Jesus himself has already paid it and he stands here, ready to save you if you will, but cry out to him and say, I trust you. You'll be born again right now. New Life will be yours. If you're here and you're not saved, you let me. We'll have somebody show you from the Bible. Answer your questions, pray with you. No pressure, but today you could be your day to be saved. Would there be anybody to say, pastor, help me, pastor, I want to know for sure I'd go to heaven when I die. Just hold your hand up right now where you are. Let me help you by like that.
21 Every head bowed, every eye closed. You are a parent.
26 Do you? Are you raising your children and taking it serious? What? I have children from God and he let him live. He gave me responsibility. Maybe as apparent you to find a place at this altar and say, I want to be the kind of mom and dad all to be. I want to raise our family. I want to be what I ought to be. I want to take seriously this great and wonderful privilege that God has given me. Once you find a place in San, pray for my family, praying for my kids. Daddy wants you to pray for your children. Mama wants you to pray for your children. Once you pray for their salvation is they're not born again, won't you let your heart be broken. I want my kids to go to heaven. When they die, they sit in the game. This is real.
08 Come and ask the Lord to work in their life. Maybe you've not been the best parent. You can look and say, I messed up, but you still got time. He'll still forgive you. He'll still work in your lab fields, still use you. Once you find a place to pray, why don't you? Why don't you make a decision to model for them a man, a woman who seeks God knew, puts Jesus first. Father God, work in our hearts, in our lives. God, whenever these people here, I pray you deal with our hearts and God didn't caused him to serve you and trust you and I'll give you praise for what you do. Work Right now. With your heads bowed, your eyes closed. You can pray in your seat here to pray at the altar and whenever you're finished you can. Stan was saying was steven, but please, let's all go home like came. Hey, he loves those little children. He cares about them and you are parenting one of them that he gave you. Honor Jesus with your children. I'm going to just be honest with you.
09 We're being saved is the greatest thing that ever happened to me being married, so second grade, the second ever happened to me, and then God given me four wonderful children is the next greatest thing that ever happened to me and they ain't got to give them the grandkids. The next grade is sticking out to me. Y'all come in after that. Somewhere as the church I get to faster. Would it a privilege to be a parent? Would you say? Amen right there, and you should love your kids. So many people stood beside the grave, lost her kids. God's let us keep our kids. Bad things have happened, but we got. We got our kids, man.
39 Go home and love him.
41 Give him a big sloppy kiss.
44 Tell him you love him.
46 You know you might not get to do that forever and then be a model of Jesus for them. Be a model of Jesus for them.
