Sunday morning we had 243 people in attendance. The Spanish church had another good week with 36 people. Pastor preached a great message out of the Book of Mark called Sacrifice with a Purpose. We looked into the story of Zebedee, the father of John and James. Zebedee gave up so much when his sons went to follow Jesus, and James and John gave up so much when they left to follow Jesus. It is a sacrifice to follow Jesus, but it is a sacrifice with a purpose and great benefit.

During the afternoon time we had some specials with a few special testimonies. We were blessed to hear about how God is working in the lives of people in our church. Nate Fransis preached a message on why we can praise God. He has been good to us and that is why we can praise Him!

Sunday night we had a special time honoring our five seniors. We are excited about how each of them have been a blessing to our church and our youth group. We are excited to see them showing their love for God by doing ministry in our church! Please pray for each of them as they are entering adult hood.

In our morning service we had the joy of seeing four teenagers be baptized. It was extra special to us being that all four of them have grown up in our church the last six to eight years. They first started attending our church through our van ministry. Here are the links to their testimony videos. Maria & Roselyn, Michelle, Angel, and here is a bonus video of Angel from last week.

We also had Dan and Shannon Penrod join our church membership! This family has already been a real y blessing to our church. Their evident love for the Lord and His people has given us all a reason to rejoice as they join us in the work God has given us.

We had 234 in our morning service. In the evening we had our monthly Q & A Session. It was also very exciting to her a great report from Vision Baptist Church of Cobb County. They had 39 in attendance! One teenager brought his family!

I wonder what God has in store  for us this Sunday! We also had a tremendous start to the book of Deuteronomy this last Thursday. God sent many visitors. I fully expect that God will continue to build His church as we proclaim His Word. His Word was proclaimed in the service and in multiple locations around the church through Foundations before the service. One college age student. named Ezzy, accepted Christ following the service!

Bulletin for the Week: VISIONNEWS-Jan11.2015

If you did not receive a bulletin yesterday, please raise your hand. You can click the link above to download a PDF of Visions News for January the 11th. As you know I, am an advocate actively fighting bulletin illiteracy. In the words of George Washington “The Christian that reads, the bulletin is better equipped to be involved in the life of the church.”

In giving a weekly review, I know I am only limited to reporting what I see or hear about. There are many wonderful lessons and conversations that I never know about. I have heard great reports from our Spanish ministry. They had 25 in attendance yesterday with four first-time visitors. After the morning service, I had a chance to meet Elvis (before he left the building). He had been led to the Lord by someone who attends our english services the night before. He was then connected with our Spanish ministry. That is a church serving as a team on a mission!

Even before the services started in Sunday ministry was happening this weekend at Vision. About 40 people were involved in our outreach efforts led by Kanon Bloom. Then afterwards the Single Focus Fellowship volunteered to help the Connect Fellowship clean the church for Sunday. We are appreciative of their help. Kyle Shreve, staff missionary to Peru, was right there in the middle of it leading the charge.

I really, really enjoyed the morning message on “What is a Church?” from Matthew 16:18. I have never met anyone more committed to the local church then our pastor. He has given his life to the goal of seeing a church planted for every 50,000 in a community. In the evening, we had our monthly Q & A Session. This is always fun and super practical time. I always leave challenged to study the Bible to be able to help people with the questions they have in and about life.

Thank you to all you parents who showed up for the Students of Vision – Parents Meeting. I think it may be our best attend one yet! Steve Morgan and John Pearson gave updates about what was being taught in the classes. During the afternoon, the Student Mission Team, headed to Peru this Summer, had an organizational meeting. The saying “we don’t just serve hotdogs we teach teenagers to cook” was very evident in the meeting. Besides the fact they are working very hard to earn the money, our students are planning out all the details of the trip with our help.

Don’t miss Thursday night! We have our monthly “Split Sessions”. Pastor Robert will be teaching from the book of Proverbs. Men are still talking about how much his lesson from 2 months ago helped us. Mrs. Kelli will be teaching the ladies. Hope to see you all there.

What an awesome Sunday! Above is the video archive of the morning message. At the 20 minute mark you will hear the Cooke Family sing beautifully “It is well with my Soul”! What an awesome family, but an even better God. We have another “special, special” on Sunday night with a new middle school girls ensemble. The internet was out during this time, but I am certain we will get a chance to hear it again soon. #hint

We could not receive or do we need any more sign that God is all that He says He is then what we find in the resurrection of Christ. We were reminded of these great truth on Sunday morning. On Sunday night we continued to learn from Balaam. We were challenged to live lives dictated by doctrine and not be driven with the wind. Ben Thomas challenged us to take responsibility for helping one another grow in the Lord. It is not the job of a select few!

This week we have the Our Generation Summit! Our mid-week service will be on Tuesday night at 7 pm. We hope to see you at both of these opportunities to learn!

We are looking forward to seeing you all tonight for our mid-week service! Do not forget this week and next week we are meeting on Tuesday night. Tonight will be extra special as we head into Christmas. We will have a combined service with our Spanish speaking members of our church! We will also be led in the Lord’s Supper by Kanon Bloom.

If you were not here on Sunday morning I would like to encourage you to listen to the sermon before you meet with your family for Christmas. We heard from God’s Word and we heard about how compassionate God. He not only healed the sick but he was also concerned they received a meal before they went home. He is extravagant in His love towards us!

Between the morning and evening service we have the 4:20 Teacher & Workers Meeting. This is not just “Pastor Talk”, it truly is amazing the correlation between how many people serve in our church and how many show up on Sunday morning. Our TWM has been growing the last several weeks (due to the great content we are being given by our pastor about how to grow as teachers of the Word) and our attendance has risen. God gave us 222 people in the AM service! There were 173 there for Sunday School and Adult Bible Fellowships!

In our evening service we heard a great report from Jessica Wachter. She just returned from her internship in London! God did a wonderful work in our heart. She learned exactly what our interns are sent to the field to learn; utter dependance upon God to produce a work in them as he works through them. We are glad to have her home with us and are grateful we were able to send her out “of our own company.’

I never tire of going to church and worshipping our great God with the wonderful people He has sent to Vision Baptist Church! pastor preached two fantastic messages. In the Sunday morning service a man responded to the Gospel call! In the afternoon service it is often easy to get sleepy after such a great meal but the singing and intense sermon fought off the afternoon nap.

We were blessed by the singing of Stephen Evans and the Glorybound Quartet. I had been looking forward to hearing Stephen with the South Gospel group he is a member. It was not only great to hear them sing praise to our God but a real joy to get to know all of them.

As you can tell in the picture it was also our annual Old Fashioned Sunday. After the morning service we had a meal together. Those meals are not only extremely fun but it is great chance for people in our church to make new friendships and strengthen the ones they already have. Also it was great to have chicken from KFC.
