Who should be pleased

II Samuel 6:8 And David was displeased, because the LORD had made a breach upon Uzzah: and he called the name of the place Perez-uzzah to this day.

David decided to bring the ark home. He didn’t take the time to find out how God wanted the ark treated. David followed the pattern the Gentiles had used and put the ark on a cart. He was respectful enough to put it on a new cart.

David didn’t get the Levites to carry the ark. David didn’t consult with the men of God to find out how God wanted things handled. He just did what he wanted to do.

David planned worship music to go along with the worldly transportation that he arranged.

When the ark was shaking on the cart, Uzzah tried to steady the ark., and God killed him.

This displeased David. He feared God after this.

The interesting thing is that David never wanted to know what pleased God. There is no discussion of God’s will or God’s way. The only thing that matters is that David be happy.

God is not there to please us. That is entirely backward of the way it works. We are here to please and honor Him.

Do you get angry when God does things that you do not like? Do you ever ask God how He wants you to conduct your life or ministry? Our goal should be to please Him rather than expecting Him to please us. He is God, and we are His creation and HIs servants.
