Judges 10:16 And they put away the strange gods from among them, and served the LORD: and his soul was grieved for the misery of Israel.
Jair became the judge over Israel. He served 22 years. After his death, God’s people returned to their sin. God became very angry because of their sin and allowed foreign nations to conquer them. After much suffering, the people cried out to God and recognized their sin.
God told the people that they should call on the false gods that they had been worshipping. He wanted them to see the futility of false gods that are not gods. The people cleaned the sin out of their lives.
The thing that most touches me in this verse is that God’s soul was grieved over the suffering of Israel. God felt their hurt. God cares. God hurt when His people hurt.
Do you see the kindness and mercy of our God? Do you realize that He loves you? He is at work in your life and will feel your burdens. That encourages me today.
