Cursed for turning away

Deuteronomy 11:28 And a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of the LORD your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known.

Moses warns the nation of Israel that if they rebel against God and do not obey the commandments that they will be cursed. They had a choice. They could abide by or not follow. They could follow or turn aside. They could choose God or false gods. They could go back to their past or stay on course. Regardless there would be consequences.

God gave Israel a choice. He gives you an opportunity. If you choose not to trust Jesus Christ as your Savior, you will suffer eternally. It doesn’t matter if you like that or agree with it. It is what the Scriptures teach.

As a believer, you choose if you will obey God or sin. When you choose to sin, you choose consequences or chastisement. It would seem to me that we would all want to stay focused on God and how good He is.
