Deuteronomy 6:12 Then beware lest thou forget the LORD, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.
It is so easy to forget how God answered our prayers and met our needs. We were desperate. We were at wit’s end. We had no way of escape. Then God came through. He answered our prayer. He did all we could have ever asked or thought. It doesn’t take long until we begin to believe that we did something. If we think of the fact that God answered prayer, we will try to assume that it was because we knew how to pray. We knew what to do that would get God to answer. We are the hero of our stories.
We seldom take the time to count our blessings. We do not take time to thank God for what He has done. We take the credit for our success. It is about us, something we are, something we did, a way that we are different. That is why we are blessed and prosperous.
How very rare for us to humble ourselves and see God. How out of place is the humble, grateful heart in our society or even in our churches? God help us to change.
