Deuteronomy 5:21 Neither shalt thou desire thy neighbour’s wife, neither shalt thou covet thy neighbour’s house, his field, or his manservant, or his maidservant, his ox, or his ass, or any thing that is thy neighbour’s.

God told His people that they were not to desire, covet, or want those things that belonged to his neighbor. Instead of looking and their neighbor and wishing to have his stuff, they were to be satisfied with what God had given them. Comparing ourselves with others is not wise. Comparing what God has given us to what He has given others is wicked. We are to be grateful. We are to be thanking God for all that He is doing and has done for us.

Do you ever find yourself feeling bad because you don’t have what someone else has? Do you see what others have and covet after it. I know that I have had that problem. I believe our society is geared to work that way. Marketing is very much coveting enticement. How can they get us to want what others have? I often get what others have and then am not happy with it. I find it is not what they made it out to be. Do you have this problem?

Let’s be grateful today. Let’s say thank you to the Lord. Let’s realize that we have been much blessed.
