Watch for temptation and pray

Mark 14:38 Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.

Jesus told His disciples that they should be watching and praying. This word watch means to stay awake and be watchful. We can’t let our walk with God be lulled into complacency and laziness. The word means to be in constant readiness, on the alert. We know that Satan and temptation will come when we least expect it. We must be paying attention. We must understand that if we get lazy Satan will attack. So we live knowing that we must take heed or we will fall.

We watch, and we pray. We know that we are unable to have victory without God moving in our lives. We know that we have not because we ask not so we are continually asking. We want to serve God, but we get tired and lazy. We get complacent. We need to decide now to be alert, awake, and alive as we serve God. Don’t relax. Don’t get too used to your situation. We are in the middle of spiritual warfare.
