Sharing the anointing

Numbers 11:17 And I will come down and talk with thee there: and I will take of the spirit which is upon thee, and will put it upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with thee, that thou bear it not thyself alone.

Moses needed help. God directed Moses to bring the seventy men that had been chosen for a particular time before God. God would come down and speak with Moses. God promised to take of the spirit which was on Moses and give some to these special men. They would serve with Moses. It was only right that they should share in God’s work in Moses life.

This verse is a picture of what we do in ordination. It should be taken very seriously. We should realize that we are honoring these men but more than that we are sharing ministry. We are allowing God to take of the same ministry spirit He put on us and sharing it with them.

It is always better to have more people involved in the ministry. Many hands make the workload light. God wants to use more and more people. As pastors let’s not be stingy with God’s work.
