Leviticus 20:26 And ye shall be holy unto me: for I the LORD am holy, and have severed you from other people, that ye should be mine.
God severed the nation of Israel from all other people. He wanted them to be exclusively His. They were to be holy because He is holy. They were to reflect who their God was by their lives.
I think what makes this verse stick out to me is the word severed. God’s people were cut off from everyone else. They were distinct. They were different. They were to live marked lives.
Today we are His. He has saved us. He has called us to be holy also. We should; realize that there is a vast difference between God’s people and the rest. We are called to holiness that marks us. We are to live like our God.
Do you realize that you are severed from the rest of the world? Do you know that you are unlike all those around you? Live out who you are.
