Genesis 20:3 But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, Behold, thou art but a dead man, for the woman which thou hast taken; for she is a man’s wife.
In this very first book of the Bible, we find a lost man, a pagan, having an encounter with God. Abraham has lied to him about Sarai being his wife. The man has been flirtatious with Abraham’s wife. God speaks to him in a dream.
The man knows that God has spoken to him. He tells Abram about the encounter.
I just thought as I read this that this man had an opportunity to speak to God. He could know God if he wanted. He heard from God. He knew it was God. He could easily have said you are God and I want to worship you.
I love finding these encounters. The sad thing is that Abimelech heard from God but felt only the threat and did not seek the relationship. What are you doing when God speaks to you?
