Stop bragging

Proverbs 27:2 Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; A stranger, and not thine own lips.

This verse will also be one of my favorites. Not because I have victory in this area but because when our youngest son was a child, he heard a message that affected him significantly. The actual verse used in that message says the lips of a fool will swallow him up. The message focused on how if you praise yourself your lips are going to swallow you.

We are instructed to be very careful about not bragging. We are not to talk about our goodness but to let others do so. We are too quick to publish our own press releases. Then we quickly believe what we wrote to brag on ourselves.

We see little of our own mistakes and all the other person’s. We see our best and not the other persons. We focus on ourselves and not others.
