Fools, Dogs, and vomit

Proverbs 26:11 As a dog returneth to his vomit, So a fool returneth to his folly.

It is pretty disgusting when you see a dog go back to eat its own vomit. It feels the same when you see a fool return to his folly. Folly refers to weakness of intellect or lack of understanding. How can he or she keep doing the same foolishness over and over? How can sin continually defeat you?

Folly can refer to doing something inconsistent with reason. What you are doing doesn’t make sense. Fools can be taught that, and they still go back to do the same thing.

Folly refers to a senseless act that is profoundly sinful. Why would you keep going back to that?

Are you still depraved? Do you not have the new mind of a believer. God gives us new life if we will merely obey HIm.

Do you find it disgusting that a dog would eat its vomit? The wise man said seeing someone do the same old sin over and over felt the same way
