World Evangelism in the Old Testament

Isaiah 49:6 And he said, It is a light thing that thou shouldest be my servant To raise up the tribes of Jacob, And to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, That thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the earth.

God prepared the Jews, Israel, to glorify Him and be a light to the world, the Gentiles. They failed in their mission. Here in this passage, the Messiah is referred to as Israel and how God will still get the light to the world.

God gave Jesus to the world as light. He came bringing salvation to the ends of the earth. The body of Christ is the church. This is a mention of what God would do with us, His people, the church.

From the Old Testament to the end God wanted the world to hear and know the truth. He had a people that were responsible for getting the gospel to the world. Now we see a promise that God is still sending the light, salvation through Jesus and His church.
