Isaiah 37:35 For I will defend this city to save it For mine own sake, and for my servant David’s sake.
God is going to answer Hezekiah’s prayer. He will answer the prayer for His own sake. He is God. Jerusalem is His city. The wicked king is attacking His character and ability. He will prove that He is who He says that He is and that He can defeat all other gods.
I love the fact that He will also answer for David’s sake. He had given David His word. God never lies. When He makes a promise, He keeps it. You can depend on His Word.
Now there is a lesson here about our prayer. We pray for His will to be done. We pray for Him to accomplish His purposes. The prayer is “thy kingdom come, thy will be done!” God works for His purposes.
So pray what you know to be God’s will and He will hear and answer. Do not think that God is a genie to answer your will and your desires. You are His servant. You should approach Him that way.
