Isaiah 28:13 But the word of the Lord was unto them Precept upon precept, precept upon precept; Line upon line, line upon line; Here a little, and there a little; That they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, And snared, and taken.
The old saying is “Inch by inch it is a cinch, by the yard it is hard!” God sent his man to teach his people. He told them to give them a little at the time. It was one precept then add another. It was one line at a time. It was just a little. It can even feel childish. They wanted more. They wanted it to be difficult to understand. That is not what they are getting.
Many stumble at the simpleness we find in the Scriptures. It is simple truths. Believe them. God says it, and that settles it. It is trust that Jesus died on a cross is enough to save you. You do not need more. Jesus doesn’t need any help getting you to heaven.
If you want to learn then take it a little at the time. Learn one truth than another.
If you want to teach then teach one truth at a time. We learn like children that desire the sincere milk of the Word.
