II Timothy 4:1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; 2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
Paul charged Timothy before God that he was to preach the Word. The emphasis is on what he is to preach, the Word. He was to announce, explain, proclaim, the Word of God. He was doing it before God. He was preaching before the very judge of the universe.
He was to preach at all times, when it was convenient and when it wasn’t. He was to call their attention to things they were doing wrong. He was to rebuke them. He was to motivate them to do right. He was to do all this patiently. He was always to be sure that it was from the Word, doctrine. Bible teaching was what was supposed to come from his lips.
This was a command to preach. To preach what God said and not man’s opinion or preference is the command. He is to preach for change, a transformation not just an information dump.
This wasn’t yelling and scolding it was lovingly challenging people to serve and honor God. Get in a church that teaches and preaches the Bible. Be this kind of preacher.
