How do you respond when your sin is found out

March 17, 2019 By Austin Gardner Leave a Comment

Judges 20:14 But the children of Benjamin gathered themselves together out of the cities unto Gibeah, to go out to battle against the children of Israel.

Benjamin had sinned. It wasn’t the entire tribe but rather some individuals. When the leadership of the tribe learned of the sin, they preferred to protect their own rather than deal with the crime. They chose to cover for their own rather than discipline the sin.

This attitude of self-protection will cause great hurt to the entire team. The sin will have to be handled. Many innocents will be hurt directly because of the desire to protect friend and family instead of truth.

This is what often happens with us. We choose our loved ones over God. We prefer to defend friendship instead of truth. This is a massive error. It will only lead to more hurt.

Getting a few to get right will be painful and embarrassing, but in the long run, it will be better for all involved. Take the hard stand when you have to.
