The Cross, the power of God

March 8, 2019 By Austin Gardner Leave a Comment

I Corinthians 1:18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

The wise of this world cannot accept that what happened on the cross of Calvary is anything more than a historical event. They accept that a man named Jesus died. They believe He was buried. They believe that only legends would say that He arose from the grave. They would accept the historical fact but deny that Jesus death on the cross could make any eternal difference.

They would mock all of us that believe. They would say that we want to believe that and if so that is ok with them. We need to accept that believing that one man dying for all men is as crazy as believing in Santa Claus. It is, they say, foolishness.

But those of us that have believed know differently. We understand that God poured our sins on Jesus. He paid what we owed as sinners. We can trust His payment for our sins and have forgiveness. To them, the cross is a joke, but they are dying in their sins. They will die and go to hell.

The cross is a divider. Either you believe and are saved, or your deny and are lost. Do you believe in Jesus who died on a cross to pay your sin debt and give you new life?
