Nehemiah 9:17 And refused to obey, neither were mindful of thy wonders that thou didst among them; but hardened their necks, and in their rebellion appointed a captain to return to their bondage: but thou art a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and forsookest them not.
Man was horrible in this verse and usually is. He deliberately disobeyed God. He ignored all that God had done for Him. He pridefully rebelled against God. He chose to do the opposite of what God had for him.
But then you see the word “but!” But here is how God is. Have you allowed people to paint a picture of God to you that is not found in the Scriptures? Notice how God is.
God is ready to forgive. He loves you. He has already paid the price you owed for your sins. He waits for you with open arms to believe Him and be forgiven.
He is full of grace. He will give you what you do not deserve. He will bless when you do not deserve blessings. He gives because He is good not because you are. He is a God full of grace. Grace is giving you what you don’t deserve and could never earn.
He is merciful. He doesn’t give you what you do deserve. The wages of sin is death. That is what we have all earned. That is what we should get. But God instead of giving us what we deserve gives us what we do not deserve.
He doesn’t get angry easily or quickly. I know you have been told differently. You have heard that He stands ready to hurt you. You see Him as an angry God, but that is not the picture here. He is slow to anger. He is patient.
He is very kind. He has great kindness. He is super gently. He is super good.
Even though they walked away, He did not. He keeps loving even when we fail to love Him back.
Do you know this God? Have you trusted Him for your salvation? Today is the day for you to place your faith and trust in Jesus.
