Nehemiah 9:25 And they took strong cities, and a fat land, and possessed houses full of all goods, wells digged, vineyards, and oliveyards, and fruit trees in abundance: so they did eat, and were filled, and became fat, and delighted themselves in thy great goodness.
God’s people were delighting themselves in the great goodness of God. Reading this verse on its own would seem to be a beautiful thing.
God had given them so many good things. God had blessed beyond measure. The next verses though reveal that they were taking advantage of God and His goodness. They were not grateful. They were not worshipping.
How often do you revel in God’s goodness while showing Him no respect? How often do you take advantage of God’s goodness? Isn’t it time to give Him the glory and worship He deserves?
It is great to enjoy His goodness. It isn’t great to be proud and take advantage of Him and His good person.
