Nehemiah 9:19 Yet thou in thy manifold mercies forsookest them not in the wilderness: the pillar of the cloud departed not from them by day, to lead them in the way; neither the pillar of fire by night, to shew them light, and the way wherein they should go.
God is so good. I was never really taught this as a child. I thought He was pretty angry and hard to get along with. Here Nehemiah tells us the real character of God.
Nehemiah tells us that they had made the golden calf. They had claimed that their idol, false god, had brought them out of Egypt. That was an insult to God. They claimed their false gods had done all the damage to Egypt
God should have been angry, but instead, Nehemiah tells us that God had more mercy than they had sin and rebellion. God had taken care of them with the cloud and the fire. God had led them and provided for them.
God had taught them what to do. God gave them food and water. God took care of them for forty years. God met every need even though they had insulted Him.
God had then given them the promised land. God had fought their battles for them.
What a great God He is. They should have loved and praised Him, but they claimed and blamed Him. Do you know you serve a great and good God? Do you honor and love Him? He indeed is worthy of all your praise.
