Nehemiah 7:2 That I gave my brother Hanani, and Hananiah the ruler of the palace, charge over Jerusalem: for he was a faithful man, and feared God above many.
Nehemiah started his story by telling how his brother had been to Jerusalem. His brother had shared the destruction of Jerusalem with him. Now they have seen God do great things in rebuilding the wall. Nehemiah is the leader. Nehemiah needs someone to take care of things when he is busy or out of town. He turns to his brother. His brother is faithful. His brother feared God more than most people.
I read that testimony and am very moved. I want to be considered that faithful man.
Even more than that I want to be known as a man that fears God. To fear God means that I care what He thinks. It means that his reverenced God. He saw God as ruler, king, and His Lord. To fear God means to stand in awe of Him. Fearing God means seeing Him for who He is. He is Creator. He is the judge. He is all-powerful. Everything is about Him. Fearing God means believing His abilities and not trusting your own.
What testimony do you have? Would people consider you faithful? Do people believe that you fear God?
