Unprepared

January 24, 2019 By Austin Gardner Leave a Comment

Nehemiah 4:11 And our adversaries said, They shall not know, neither see, till we come in the midst among them, and slay them, and cause the work to cease.

The enemies of Nehemiah and God’s people were confident that they could sneak in and kill them unawares. The people would be unprepared for their attack. They would deceive them. They would hide their tactics. They would give no warnings. They would attack when they least expected it. They would attack in ways never expected. They would cause the work of God to cease.

This is precisely the tactic that Satan uses today. He comes when we are unprepared. He comes when we are not watching. We, somehow, begin to believe that it could never happen to us. We let our guard down. We no longer watch and pray,. We think that we are in good shape.

Then the attack comes. We had forgotten that we are in the middle of a spiritual war. We forgot that we have to know that God’s enemy hates us. Satan knows that by causing us to fall, he hurts God and the work of God.

So learn a lesson from this verse. You are in a war. You are under attack. If you are not under attack one is coming. You must be ready. You must never think it is over till you get to heaven. Keep your armor on. Keep your sword in your hand. Lift your shield. Watch and pray.
