Wounding their own

Nehemiah 5:7 Then I consulted with myself, and I rebuked the nobles, and the rulers, and said unto them, Ye exact usury, every one of his brother. And I set a great assembly against them.

Nehemiah got really angry. He is fighting an enemy on the outside. He is building a wall around the city to protect God’s people. He now hears that God’s people are hurting each other. It is not the danger from the outside but from the inside. Brother against brother fighting and hurting each other.

They were charging interest on loans that caused their brothers to lose everything. They were taking their own brothers into slavery due to their debts. This angered Nehemiah.

Now, are you guilty of attacking and hurting your Christian brother and sister? We need to be careful to love each other. There are enough attacks from the outside. We do not need to hurt each other. We need to protect our brother and fight off the devil.

Are you holding a grudge against your brother? Is there a division in your church because of bitterness in your heart. Determine now to honor God by loving each other. Let’s keep the fights for the enemy.
