Ezra 8:29 Watch ye, and keep them, until ye weigh them before the chief of the priests and the Levites, and chief of the fathers of Israel, at Jerusalem, in the chambers of the house of the LORD.
God wanted His offerings taken care of well. He did not allow things to be handled haphazardly. He said, watch. So God’s people were to know what was happening with the offering.
They watched the offering and kept it. That means that God’s men carefully took care of the offering. It was kept and observed until the next count. So it was counted coming and going out.
I love it that God shows us in the Old Testament the example of how to handle the offerings in the New Testament. God’s people administer God’s money in their pockets and then give it to God’s work in the church. It should be carefully managed along every point of the journey.
