Ezra 6:10 That they may offer sacrifices of sweet savours unto the God of heaven, and pray for the life of the king, and of his sons.
The king wanted to see the ministry in Jerusalem prosper. If the Jews prospered then they could pray for the king. The king wanted God’s blessings. He showed respect and deference because of his desire for their prayers.
We are commanded in the New Testament to pray for those in authority over us. We should be praying for the local officials all the way up to the President of our country.
We live in a difficult time. Politics have separated us and caused deep hatred between citizens. As believers, we should be above our personal feelings. We are to pray for our president. We are to beg God to work in the life of our leaders.
