Darkness preferred

November 20, 2018 By Austin Gardner Leave a Comment

John 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

Jesus is the light of the world. He came into the world, but the world didn’t want Him. They preferred their sin. They preferred the darkness. Jesus came to seek and save. Jesus came to love. Men chose sin and darkness over light and salvation.

Is the real reason you will not come to Jesus for salvation because you love your sin so much? Do you run from the church because you hate that your sin shows up? When you step out of the darkness and into the light that is all you can expect.

Some want the church not to make lost people uncomfortable. I don’t know how that is possible. If the church is about Jesus and Jesus is light then the church should be full of light. If the lost man loves sin and darkness, then he will most certainly be uncomfortable when it gets close to the light.

So for those in the church just know that we have to love the sinner when he comes near the light, but we can’t change the light to make the darkness feel comfortable.

For the unbeliever just know that Jesus will give you light and change you from darkness to light.
