Obadiah 4 Though thou exalt thyself as the eagle, And though thou set thy nest among the stars, Thence will I bring thee down, saith the LORD.
Mankind always wants to think too highly of itself. We seek to believe that we are higher than God. We become our own gods. We believe that we can get smart enough, rich enough, and powerful enough that we can take care of ourselves.
God uses Obadiah to warn His people that they can never get that high. You can never be enough that you are too big for God. Your pride and rebellion may lift you up in your own mind, but God will bring you down.
It takes humility to trust God. Trusting God means that we believe someone outside of ourselves. It says that we admit that there are things we are unable to do for ourselves. That is very hard for our pride.
But you will have to come to a place of humility one way or the other. You can humble yourself and trust God, or you will be humbled because you didn’t trust God. Which will it be for you?
