Proverbs 19:11 The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; And it is his glory to pass over a transgression.
Good sense, using your head, being smart means you learn to hold your tongue, keep a lid on it, or not get angry so fast. Your glory is in determining to forgive and forget, to pass over a transgression. Trusting God to take care of the offender.
Solomon here teaches his son to be slow to anger. God is slow to anger but too often we get angry very quickly. We get mad usually because we fear losing control. If I understand that I am not in control, but God is then I will be the wiser. If I learn to be kind and forgiving, I will be more greatly respected.
