Job 31:25 If I rejoiced because my wealth was great, And because mine hand had gotten much;
God had blessed Job with a great deal of wealth. Job knew that his joy was to be in God and not in the material goods that God had given him. Now as he is suffering, he reminds his friends that he never did rejoice in his wealth. Job knew that it wasn’t something that his hand had gotten. He acknowledged that God had given it to him and could take it away. He admitted that God was his strength and source, not himself.
How many times do we get excited about our financial bottom line? We think in how much we earn, how much we have saved, how much we have put back for our protection, instead of thinking of God. God is our Lord and Savior. He is the source and strength. We should be thinking about Him and not material goods. Let this verse motivate us to put our eyes where they should be.
