Nehemiah 6:13 Therefore was he hired, that I should be afraid, and do so, and sin, and that they might have matter for an evil report, that they might reproach me.
Nehemiah’s enemies attempt to cause him to be afraid. He realizes what they have in mind. If he becomes fearful, he might do something he wouldn’t ordinarily do. He might sin. If he sins, then the enemy will have a way to mock him. Sin could lead you to lose your testimony. Fear could lead you to sin. So trust God and do not let fear control you.
Get your thinking under control. Think on the Lord and what He has done and who He is. Be careful not to let the wicked tell you things that make you doubt God. Their accusations and intimidations will only cause you to do what you shouldn’t do. They will use your reaction to mock you and God.
How often I am tempted to be afraid! How often I let fear dominate my thinking! Time to believe the promises of God’s Word. Time to focus my thoughts on truth. Time to step out and act like what I know in my heart is right.
