I Samuel 23:16 And Jonathan Saul’s son arose, and went to David into the wood, and strengthened his hand in God.
David was under attack. His friend Jonathan cared about him. Jonathan sought out Saul even though it wasn’t safe. He wanted to be there for his friend. He encouraged David. He strengthened David in the Lord. He shared the truth with David so that David would stay the course and do what God wanted him to do.
Jonathan’s friendship was stronger than even his familial bond. Jonathan was a true friend. He believed truth and wanted David to continue believing.
Are you are a friend? Do you try to be there in the difficult times? Do you risk yourself for your friend? Are you a giver or merely a taker? Does your idea of friendship speak of what a friend does for you or what you do for them? Let’s be an encourager.
