Deuteronomy 8:12 Lest when thou hast eaten and art full, and hast built goodly houses, and dwelt therein; 13 And when thy herds and thy flocks multiply, and thy silver and thy gold is multiplied, and all that thou hast is multiplied; 14 Then thine heart be lifted up, and thou forget the LORD thy God, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage;
God was going to be very good to His people. He was going to take them from slavery and poverty to riches. They would have great houses, great wealth, and prosperity. He knew that if they weren’t cautious, they would forget how they got all they had. They would begin to think that they were successful by their efforts. They would not remember that just a short time back they were slaves. They would forget that God had worked great miracles in their lives.
How much does this happen in our lives? We were in need, but now we don’t think we are. We were hurting, but now we are happy. We forget God. We don’t remember that He is our Source. He is our all. He made us and not we ourselves. Take a minute to evaluate your heart and attitude. Be sure you are honoring God for all He is doing in your life.
