Leviticus 22:32 Neither shall ye profane my holy name; but I will be hallowed among the children of Israel: I am the LORD which hallow you, 33 That brought you out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: I am the LORD.
God tells His people to honor Him. He wants honor because He has honored them. He wants them to see Him as their God, their only God. He had hallowed them. He had made them holy. He had called them out of sin to His holiness.
What I love so much about this verse is that God says He brought them out of Egypt to be their God. He is God. He loved and rescued them. He gave them life. He made them holy and His. Now He asks that those He rescued treat Him the same way.
We were all sinners. We were all on our way to Hell. He rescued us. He gave us life and life more abundant. He deserves our honor. He deserves our worship.
We are not worshiping Him to get something because He has already done it all. He loved us first. He made the first move. He is to be loved because He loved us.
