Temptation

Exodus 23:33 They shall not dwell in thy land, lest they make thee sin against me: for if thou serve their gods, it will surely be a snare unto thee.

God’s people were to be separate from sin and sinners. If the false gods and those who worshipped them were allowed to live, then God’s people would be tempted to do the same. False gods can be alluring. The difference is interesting. God wanted His people to not even speak of other gods. God wanted His people to love Him and no one else.

We are warned to stay away from false gods. We are to avoid anything or anyone that might push us to walk away from God. We are to not be around those that would motivate us to worship and love anyone or anything else other than the God of heaven.
