I Thessalonians 2:8 So being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because ye were dear unto us.
Paul loved the people that he ministered to. He wanted to help them and love them with no limit to his love. Paul wasn’t there to give them the gospel. He was willing to give his very life. He loved them more than they would ever understand.
As a pastor and leader for many years, I have a small understanding of what Paul felt. I love the people God has given me. I hurt when they hurt. I am happy when they are happy. It is a beautiful thing to be in the ministry.
If I have the privilege of being your pastor you can know that I feel this way about you all the time. It means you get hurt more because you invest your heart and life but it is worth it.
Let’s love God’s people. Let’s give them the Bible but let’s go a step further and give them our hearts.
