Malachi 1:14 But cursed be the deceiver, which hath in his flock a male, And voweth, and sacrificeth unto the Lord a corrupt thing: For I am a great King, saith the LORD of hosts, And my name is dreadful among the heathen.
God hated it when His people would act as though they had nothing to give so they could keep all they did have. They would make promises to give and then give God something of no value or damaged goods. They treated God like He was a beggar. They gave God what they didn’t want for themselves. They showed no respect for Him as a great and powerful God and king.
Have you considered how you are treating God with your offering? Do you give to Him like He is someone famous and worthy? Do you treat Him with the dignity you would someone famous and influential? Do you just use God or is there a real love from your heart for Him?
Our giving is very likely a reflection of our opinion of God. We give little, leftovers, and what is unimportant because we see God that way! We give little because He is little in our eyes. We give Him the worthless because we see Him as a nuisance rather than a great God!
Why don’t you take a minute and check your giving? Consider how your giving reflects on your attitude and opinion of God!
