I Chronicles 4:10 And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.
Here is a verse that has some beautiful truths. Often misunderstood and abused but still true.
The facts are that God recorded here a prayer of one of his servants and that He, God, answered. That is one of the grandest truths we could ever find. God hears and answers prayers. We can pray big prayers.
There is no promise here that any of this particular prayer will happen for us. There is no idea given that this is God’s will for my life. But the truth is shown of what God did for one of His servants.
The great lessons I think are; ask God for big things, believing that He will hear and that He will answer. Believe that God is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. Believe that He is. Diligently seek Him. The second great lesson is that God gave Him what he asked. We have not because we ask not. Most of us ask small things because we think that God will not do great things in our lives. We have not because we ask not.
We take the verse about asking amiss and so miss asking. We tend to think that God will think we are asking for too much but in another place, He said open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.
It is time to ask God and believe that He will answer. It is time to know that God does answer prayer. It is time to pray. It is time to believe God.
