II Samuel 12:12 For thou didst it secretly: but I will do this thing before all Israel, and before the sun.
When we sin, we think that no one will find out but how wrong we are. We feel that we are not hurting anyone else but ourselves. Somehow we believe that it can be kept secret. That is what David thought. He had taken his friend’s wife. He had committed adultery. He had even had his friend killed. He thought he had covered his tracks well. He was sure that no one would find out but was terribly wrong.
His sin came to light. The entire country knew about it. That is the problem with sin. It will not stay secret. So we are better off to avoid sin in the first place. If we have sinned, we need to confess and come clean because we know the truth. It will be found out!
