Numbers 1:20 And the children of Reuben, Israel’s eldest son, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, by their polls, every male from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
The book of Numbers starts off with a census. They count the men of war, those 20 years of age and above. This is very interesting. They needed to know who was ready to fight and defend their country. They counted them.
We have a responsibility to get the gospel to the world. We ought to take that responsibility more seriously. When is the last time we looked over all our number to see who could go to war? This is over spiritualizing this text, for sure. But I still think you can see the application and consider it.
God has a people. They have a responsibility. They are counted out and listed. That would make it obvious that they were to be ready for whatever God would have. That is a good place to live. Ready to do whatever He has for me!
