Leviticus 23:22 And when ye reap the harvest of your land, thou shalt not make clean riddance of the corners of thy field when thou reapest, neither shalt thou gather any gleaning of thy harvest: thou shalt leave them unto the poor, and to the stranger: I am the LORD your God.
God instructed His people to make provision for the poor. They were to leave the corners unharvested. They were not to pick up the harvest they dropped. They were to leave this extra for the poor and the foreigner. This stranger in the verse refers to a person that is not from their people. He is a stranger from a strange land.
God’s people are constantly asked to take care of the poor. Even today we as God’s people should be helping the poor. We should be helping those that are not from here. We are God’s people expressing God’s love to others.
It is not about my earnings, income, or return on investment. It is about honoring God by helping others. That is good insight for all of us that love the Lord Jesus.
