Acts 1:20 For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let his habitation be desolate, and let no man dwell therein: and his bishoprick let another take.
Notice that when Peter led the church to choose a new apostle, he was trying to follow Scripture. Like us, Peter needed to know what he should do. He consulted the book of Psalms. He is quoting the reason he is making the decision that he is making.
When you decide the will of God, it should be based on what the Scripture says. We should seek what God says and see how to apply it. He didn’t dream up what he was going to do but rather searched the Scriptures trying to find God’s will.
How do you discern what you should do? Do you get into the Bible and see what God says? Do you think and do what feels right? Do you think that God speaks through His Word or your feelings?
