Never was about what you could do

September 30, 2017 By Austin Gardner Leave a Comment

Isaiah 64:6 But we are all as an unclean thing, And all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; And we all do fade as a leaf; And our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

This verse sounds pretty harsh. It would make you think that you and what you do aren’t important. It might hurt your pride to think that it is not good enough. Actually that is exactly what the verse is saying. It is saying that you will never measure up on your own. You will never be good enough.

This is really great news. You can relax. You can quit trying because you will simply never be good enough. The law, the commandments, the Bible may have made you feel like a failure. They may have made you feel like its no use trying because you will simply never be good enough.

That is the truth. Once you realize that you will not be good enough then you are ready for the really good news. Forgiveness, salvation, getting right with God are not about you and what you do. You can never earn your salvation but God offers it to you as a free gift.

Now understand that this gift is actually very costly, very expensive. It cost the Lord Jesus His life. Your salvation cost God Himself. He died for you. He took your sin on Himself so that you could be made the righteousness of God.

So that leaves us with a decision to be made. It is time for you to acknowledge your need of His sacrifice. It is time simply to believe God. He loves you. He paid your debt. Will you trust Him with your life and eternity today?
